Step by Step Guide to Vacuum Pool Manually
A proper cleaning mechanism is essential to keep it clean and healthy. You will need many tools while cleaning it. I am listing these tools below:
- Pool skimmer / skim vac / vacuum plate
- A vacuum head or vac head
- Telescopic pole to attach the vac head
- A vacuum hose long enough to reach every corner of the pool
You need to follow following steps in order to vacuum your pool manually.
#Step 1:- Attach open end of the telescopic pole to vac head.
#Step 2:- Attach one end of the hose to the top of the vac end. If the connection is loose, use a hose clamp so that the hose do not slip off again and again.
#Step 3 :- Place the vac head, hose and pole in the pool: Place it in such a way that the vac head rests on the floor of the pool. The all the way to the bottom position suits.
#Step 4 :- Put the other end of the hose against a return jet in the pool with the help of pump and filter running. All the water will be pushed through the hose this way and will get all the air out.
Make sure that all the air is out of the hose. Bubbles will start coming up from the vacuum head on the floor. When the bubbles stop, it will indicate that all the absence of air in the hose.
#Step 5 :- Remove the basket inside the skimmer if you are not using a vacuum plate. Block the end of the hose with your hand that has been filled up with the water and bring it near skimmer. Insert it into the suction hole at the bottom of the skimmer. Make sure it is inserted properly. Only a good seal will restore the pressure.
In this way, suction will be created from the vac head, through the hose, into the skimmer and through the filter system. Now you are ready to vacuum the pool.
In case you lose the suction, repeat steps 4 and 5 to restore it.
#Step 6 :- While vacuuming the pool always remember that slow and steady wins the race. Even if you are using best pool vacuum cleaner, do not hurry up. Let the machine take its time.
You can imitate the way you clean your carpet. Start from the shallow end and slowly moves towards the deeper area. Use slow and long sweeping strokes for better cleaning.
If you will rush during the process, the pool vacuum will just kick up debris which will again settle down in the bottom later and you will have to repeat the cleaning process sooner or later.
Follow the process in a steady pace to clean the pool properly.
